Will Anderson Jr. - Logs DNP on Wednesday Anderson (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Impact Anderson sustained an ankle injury in the Texans' Week 9 loss to the Jets, and Wednesday's DNP suggests the issue could be serious. The 2023 Defensive Rookie of the Year likely needs to upgrade to at least limited participation Thursday or Friday in order to suit up for Houston's Week 10 matchup against the Lions. If Anderson is unable to do so, expect Derek Barnett to see additional work with the Texans' first-team defense.

Dameon Pierce - Misses Wednesday's practice Pierce (groin) didn't practice Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Impact Pierce was also listed as a non-participant last week before being ruled out for this past Thursday's loss to the Jets. With another absence Wednesday, the running back's status for Sunday's game against the Lions remains cloudy. If Pierce remains sidelined this weekend, Dare Ogunbowale and J.J. Taylor would continue to see complementary snaps in Week 10 behind top back Joe Mixon.

Nico Collins - Not practicing Wednesday Collins (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Impact Collins, who was placed on IR on Oct.9, has missed four straight games and is thus eligible to return to practice as soon as this week. Per Wilson, Collins hasn't experienced any setbacks with his hamstring injury, with the wideout having reportedly regained his speed and mobility in the process. However, with Collins not having resumed practice as of Wednesday, it remains to be seen if he'll be activated ahead of Sunday's game against the Lions.

Kenyon Green - Set to be placed on IR Green (shoulder) is expected to be placed on injured reserve in the near future, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Impact Green suffered a separated shoulder in Thursday's 21-13 loss to the Jets, which will sideline him for the foreseeable future. The offensive guard does have a chance at making a return late in the season though depending on how well he progresses in rehab according to Rapoport. In the meantime, Kendrick Green will likely take over at left guard for Houston.

Cade Stover - Two targets in loss Stover did not catch either of his two targets in Thursday's 21-13 loss to the Jets in Week 9.
Impact Houston was without its top two wideouts for the game, which presented an opportunity for a lesser-known receiver, such as Stover, to produce. However, that didn't materialize, as quarterback C.J. Stroud (eight sacks, 11 hits) was on the run most of the night, which impacted the passing attack. Stover has seven catches on 11 targets for 85 yards through nine games.

Ka'imi Fairbairn - Stumbles in loss Fairbairn made two of four field-goal attempts and his lone extra-point try in Thursday's 21-13 loss to the Jets in Week 9.
Impact Fairbairn misfired from 56 yards near the end of the first half and later hit the upright on a 27-yard attempt. It's rare he has two misses in a game, particularly when one is a chip shot inside the 30. His makes were from 54 and 29 yards. While the misses altered the trajectory of the game, this loss was more on the offense than the kicker.

Steven Sims - Main returner in loss Sims returned four kickoffs for 106 yards and one punt for zero yards in Thursday's 21-13 loss to the Jets in Week 9.
Impact Sims was the main returner for the night, as Houston was without Dameon Pierce (groin) and didn't want to expose Robert Woods in a game where the team's top two wideouts were not available. Sims played just six snaps on offense and has not yet been targeted in 2024.

Impact With the team's top wideouts sidelined, Metchie was in line to take on a greater role, but it didn't work out that way. Houston quarterback C.J. Stroud spent much of the night running away from or getting hit by Jets defenders, which made a mess of the passing attack. Metchie, who played a season-high 50 snaps, and fellow wideout Xavier Hutchinson (59 snaps, three targets, no catches) were non-factors in the loss.

Impact Houston's passing attack was expected to be challenged with both Nico Collins (hamstring) and Stefon Diggs (knee) unavailable, which made the possibility of Hutchinson of John Metchie having a productive game. However, the offensive line put an end to any such notion. Quarterback C.J. Stroud was was sacked eight times, hit on another 11 attempts and was running for his life all game. Beyond Tank Dell's 126 yards there was little else happening for receivers. Hutchinson and Metchie (two targets, no catches) were shut out in the loss.

Robert Woods - Two catches as fill-in Woods caught two of three targets for 44 yards in Thursday's 21-13 loss to the Jets in Week 9.
Impact Woods got the start with both Nico Collins (hamstring) and Stefon Diggs (knee) unavailable. He played 39 snaps and contributed on Houston's lone touchdown drive with a 32-yard reception in the second quarter. If Collins returns as expected for Week 10, then Woods would likely return depth role. He has seven catches on 10 targets for 90 yards in seven games played.
